As what he learns branches, he will be off to chase the turn of the story.Oddly enough, he comes with little background knowledge of how the world got to how it was. Yet he possesses a researcher's mind, eager to uncover answers, even if only for himself.Though a historian, Dion prefers getting his hands dirty, eager to chase the next legend he hears into the deepest darkest ruins, no matter what corner of the world it's in.He's a gifted fighter, trained as a viper, though his swordsmanship extends to other disciplines as well. An odd thing for a scholar to know, yet he's quick to deflect questions on the matter.The man keeps few friends and allows even less from getting too close. However, those who do earn his trust earn themselves a steadfast ally.

Dion isn't your usual historian. While he does do a fair amount of research from tomes, he also prefers being in the field, feeling that more of the story can be unfolded by simply being where events took place. Of course, he's always eager to join any expeditions to anywhere that might carry historical signficance.Chasing Legends
With that being said, Dion always has his ear to the ground about any hints, leads, or stories that might send him on his next expedition. "A mad man chasing legends into the deep darkest places" sounds like someone with a death wish, but he wouldn't live life any other way. His weapons are unique. Capable of using what looks like elemental aspected magicks. However if you ask him, he'd say he's no mage. Just a swordsman of no renown. While he doesn't look like it at first glance, Dion has been seen with a number of technologically advanced equipment and devices, namely the ring he wears on his finger. One would wonder where they came from. He doesn't usually think twice about using aid devices around people.Turnabout
While the man is friendly and eager to talk to new people, he rarely talks about himself. Opting instead to learn about other people, their homes and cultures. Of course while he's doing it to learn as is his wont, he's also avoiding a subject. It's proven to frustrate some.Yet some may recognize him as one of the military's elite from their shared home if they served together, though he's been gone for a little over a turn now.

I've been dabbling in role play in FFXIV for about a year and a half now. Being in my very early 40s, with career and all, that is certainly not expected of my writing parters. I do, however, expect them to be at least 21.Beyond RP, I find a lot of joy in Gposing, Glamour, Crafting, Deep Dungeons and Raiding, even very recently clearing my first Ultimate Raid (Futures Rewritten Ultimate) and I was one of the first 100 Dancers in the world to solo Pilgrim's Traverse!Beyond FFXIV, I'm a huge fan of the Kingdom Hearts, the other mainline FF entries, Monster Hunter, Starfield, Clair Obscur, and really over all just a sucker for a good story, be it game, movie, book, TV, manga.I also find joy in writing stories that come to mind, songwriting, and playing guitar.Some Rules
IC ≠ OOC. I am not Dion, Dion is not me. While I put significant amount of effort into writing him, his decisions are always character decisions. Please do not get upset with me for decisions he would've made.Communicate: If something is off or something offends you, please talk to me OOC. Let's resolve it.Subject Matter: I'm generally ok with most subject matter, though trigger warnings are always nice so I can make sure it's something I want to be involved in. I just ask you stop if I ever need you to stop. It's rare but it happens.Hatefulness - I won't tolerate homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, racist, sexist, misogynistic (woman hating) nor misandrist (man hating) comments. None of it's called for. OOC Hate is never called for. Ever. Also...please respect lalafells.Violence - It's clear Dion has martial training and can fight, though he much prefers to draw his twinfangs on things not human. If you decide you want to be more an adversary then an ally, he will fight back with all he has. You can try to kill him, but obviously his death is off the table.Romance - I feel romances are an important part to a character's development and I tend to be pretty open to them and all that it entails. Yes, that includes more mature themes including ERP if it makes sense for the plot or relationship. However, between being naturally inclined to be distrustful of most and being demisexual, this won't happen easily if ever with most relationships. He's not going to approach for that purpose, nor will he hop into bed with any woman. With that also being said, I am open to friendships and even encourage it OOCly but I will not be interested in dating the writer of an IC partner...ever. I hope that would be respected.Story Beats: While I've done my very best to be as lore plausible as I could, which included putting hours of research into the lore involving his home, aspects of Dion's story is what it is. I won't change something based on one's interpretation of the lore. If Dion's doesn't fit your interpretation of what we have to work with, please don't challenge or question it IC.
